Press the top button on the controller and scroll to the “ settings ” screen. The settings button is white and orange with the logo of the device box in a white circle. Go to the “ power settings ” menu. Press “O” twice on the controller to return to the “ settings ” menu screen, then scroll down to the “ power settings ” option. This menu option has a small white logo next to the shape of 2 hands holding up the battery. Press the “X” button on the controller to access the menu after finding it. [6]
Set the functions you want to be available in idle mode. Select the second menu option, “ set functions available in rest mode ”. This allows the game to update even when in rest mode. If you are a remote user, we recommend also selecting “ enable turning on of PS4 from network ”. [7]
Put the PS4 into rest mode before turning off the console. Hold down the central button on the controller, then use the D-pad or left stick to go to the “ power ” option. Scroll down, and select “ put PS4 in standby mode ”. [8]
Updating Games Manually

Check for updates via the options menu. While still selecting the game you want to update, press the options button on your controller. Scroll down to “ check for update ” in the menu that appears. [10]
Go to downloads when the game is ready to update. If an update is available, you will receive a notification that says ” An update file for this application is available “. Then, you will be asked to go to the download screen. Press the “X” button on the controller to access the screen.
